DVD News: Feb 2-6

All quiet on the Region 1 DVD front this week.

No box office results to report, though TOKYO GODFATHERS survived to play at least one more week in Los Angeles (Pasadena, to be exact). VIRUMAANDI is also playing in Los Angeles (West San Fernando Valley); though the print is not subtitled, a friend said it was quite a dynamic viewing experience.

Late Friday afternoon I drove to the closest multiplex and selected THE BIG BOUNCE for my viewing pleasure. The picture's been savaged by many critics but I must say I quite enjoyed myself. Sure, there's no real plot and the characters are only hinted at, but, hey, the Hawaiian scenery and the female lead (Sara Foster) were very easy on the eyes and I'm starting to enjoy Owen Wilson playing himself in every movie in which he appears. For myself and two out of the other three people in attendance, we laughed and goofed along. Your mileage may vary (considerably).
